Rodney Kersaint grew up in Brooklyn, NY and Willingboro, NJ — raised by his mother Juliette, who worked multiple jobs to raise four children alone. At 8 years old, a neighbor held a gun to his head and played Russian roulette.
The anger that followed cost him high school, led to boarding school, got him kicked out of the family home. He lost friends to jail. He lost friends to death.
In 2008, Rodney joined the United States Navy. He put the word SUCCESS on a T-shirt — not as fashion. As a personal reminder every single day. That shirt became a Channel 8 News story. Then a national movement.
